Backup and Recovery Integration

In short, this package supports backup and recovery integration between Cohesity and ServiceNow so organizations can bring backup job data into the ServiceNow CMDB. Using Cohesity REST APIs, the integration retrieves details such as protection group status, SLA compliance, backup size, and the last successful run. That data is then transformed to align with the ServiceNow Backup Information table schema for consistent visibility, reporting, and compliance tracking across the backup landscape.

Next, the integration uses a custom spoke in ServiceNow IntegrationHub with a scripted REST API to securely ingest data on a recurring schedule. As a result, backup information can be linked automatically to devices in the CMDB through a related list for Backup Information, allowing teams to view the last backup time for each device and keep records updated on a nightly basis.

Additionally, a consistent mapping strategy is used to ensure each Cohesity attribute is assigned to the correct ServiceNow field. Therefore, organizations gain more reliable backup visibility, stronger reporting, and improved compliance tracking without relying on manual updates.

How Backup and Recovery Works

1. First, purchase, download, and install the update sets associated with this product.
2. Next, configure the connection string and credentials so the integration can connect to your Cohesity ITA environment. In most cases, an OAuth connection is sufficient.
3. Then, run a test of the built-in IntegrationHub action(s) and review the returned data.
4. Additionally, test the built-in IntegrationHub flow(s) that invoke the action(s) and confirm the actions executed successfully and returned the expected data.
5. Finally, schedule the flow to run at your preferred time. The recommended schedule is daily at 3:00 AM.

Note: this backup solution enhances data integrity by automatically mapping Cohesity-collected backup data points to the ServiceNow CMDB Backup Store Information table. Additional fields have also been included in the table to strengthen and expand the information returned from Cohesity.
